A Look at HR Management

Human resources management is all about people. As a specialist in human resources, you will be responsible for finding the right people for your company, making sure they are able to work with the team and managing everything from employee handbooks to sick leave. Human resource managers also define and design how work happens at a company and are in charge of employee compensation and benefits. An online Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management gives you the tools to successfully manage the people at a company with confidence and ease.

Your Role As an HR Manager

As a human resource manager, your role is to manage the company’s most important asset: its personnel. The ability to attract and retain talented individuals, as well as the ability to nurture growth and teamwork, is often the difference between a successful business and a struggling one. Your job is to make sure that everything related to the people goes smoothly.

Human resource managers have the power and responsibility to shape corporate culture by determining what metrics employees are evaluated on (and what compensation is based on) as well as by creating an environment in line with the company’s values. Human resource managers play a major role in deciding how a company looks, feels and runs.

As a human resource manager, you’ll also be responsible for handling the conflicts that inevitably arise among team members. You’ll need to help decide how to best solve any issues getting in the way of performance and when and if a team member should leave the company.

What Jobs Might You Do With an MBA in Human Resource Management?

At the entry level, human resource assistants earn an average of $40,702 nationwide, per Glassdoor estimates as of September 2017. However, as you move up in responsibility in the HR department, your salary will increase considerably. HR managers make, on average, $74,180 per year, while senior HR managers make an average of $125,000 annually.

More senior positions in company management will often pay even more. Having a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management will both allow you to jump into more senior HR roles and provide a foundation for you to move into more senior management positions quicker than would be possible without an MBA.

An online MBA in HR Management gives you the tools to enter an exciting and well-paid career track. You will gain the skills and the credentials necessary to advance within the HR department, and you’ll also be laying the groundwork for a possible career in senior management, as is common for people with a background in human resources.
