Career Highlights:

  • I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My dissertation was on the U.S. airline industry. My research interests are in public economics and industrial organization.
  • I have published a few journal articles, including collaborations with the Cato Institute. Recently my research is focused on airline taxes and mergers.
  • I have also received multiple teaching excellence awards at UNL. Making sure my students are successful is a top mission in my academic career.

  • In what ways do you connect with online students?

    Discussion board is the main way to stay connected with online students. I watch college football!

  • Why did you start teaching?

    I learned a lot from my professors. It is my turn so that students can learn from my experience.

  • What advice would you give to your online students?

    Stay connected and stay on top of the material. Do not fall behind. Ask if you need assistance.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the field in which you teach?

    Be able to adapt quickly, be able to self-learn and be able to think independently.

  • What do you do when you need a laugh?

    I have two cats. One who has been with me since college and a kitten.

  • Tell us something your students may not know about you:

    I watch college football and basketball a lot. Since I attended both Wisconsin and Nebraska, many people ask me which team I support when the Badgers play the Cornhuskers. What do you think? “Go Big Red” or “On Wisconsin?” I definitely love to jump around!
