View all admission requirements
In addition to your online application, the following is required to complete your application:
- A minimum overall GPA of 2.75 on the undergraduate transcript from a regionally accredited institution or an undergraduate overall GPA of 2.50 to 2.74 from a regionally accredited institution and a 3.0 GPA on six hours of required graduate coursework at Northwest in the major program where admission is requested.
- Documentation of one of the following:
- Option 1. A score of 2 on a writing assessment administered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics will be accepted. The writing assessment is not designed to test proficiency in a specific subject. It is rather a test to evaluate applicant’s abilities to critique, organize, and write a concise argument.
- Option 2. Students with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 and a composite score of 280 or higher on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE General Test will be accepted.
All students must successfully complete a writing assessment before the end of their first semester. By completing the writing assessment for admission (Option 1) you will not need to re-take the assessment after admitted.
