To earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management online from Northwest Missouri State University, students must complete 33 credit hours by taking 11 courses total. (One course equals three credit hours.) Of this total, 24 hours (eight courses) must meet core requirements. Nine hours (three courses) can be chosen from the general management concentration.

Quality improvement is important for many businesses. Students interested in focusing on this area could benefit from MGMT 54642, Quality Improvement Techniques. Students will become familiar with the techniques and concepts used to improve processes in manufacturing, service and administration. The course covers Six Sigma, cause and effect diagrams, scatter diagrams, process flow mapping, failure mode analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, histograms, tolerance control, Kaizen, and process capability study.
Students interested in furthering their knowledge of global business could take MKTG 55631, International Business. The course explores current challenges and theory in international business, including globalization, privatization and liberalization, and the strategic choices required.
Marketing is an important part of any business. MBA students with a concentration in General Management might want to increase their depth of knowledge about marketing with MKTG 55635, Advanced Marketing Communications. This course focuses on promotion as a strategy by which marketers inform, persuade and remind potential buyers of a product to establish and enhance its viability. The course discusses such topics as customer relationship management (CRM), social media strategies and analytics.
Human resources management is important to all managers. MGMT 54620, Advanced Human Resource Management, is a course that will augment the understanding of General Management concentration students with a specialized look at recruitment, selection, training/development and compensation. The course also highlights legal and ethical issues.
