All the online Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs at Northwest Missouri State University (Northwest) are military friendly. Northwest facilitates the enrollment of military service members and their families in a multitude of ways. Admissions requirements can be fulfilled with military service, and financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ GI Bill program may be available.
Facilitating Enrollment for Members of the Military and Their Families
VIQTORY recently named Northwest Missouri State University a Military Friendly School for 2023-2024, marking the 12th consecutive year Northwest has received the designation. This ongoing recognition stems from Northwest’s dedication to people who have served in the military and their families. The university works to ensure the success of students with military backgrounds.
Northwest Missouri State University is approved for certification of students who are eligible for educational benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Northwest’s School Certifying Official (SCO) will provide any assistance needed in fulfilling the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) requirements. The SCO also serves as a direct liaison between Northwest and the VA’s St. Louis Regional Office regarding benefit payments.
Military Service Fulfills Admission Requirements
All of Northwest’s online MBA programs require at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale from a regionally accredited university.
In addition, all students must meet one other requirement from a range of option such as:
- Three years of continuous work experience
- A graduate degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA
- A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5
- An acceptable score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), Major Field Test for Business or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
One of the options that also meets this second requirement is three years of continuous, full-time service, either enlisted or commissioned, in the U.S. military. Therefore, if you have served three years in the military and have at least a 2.5 GPA, you have met all the admissions requirements and do not have to take the GMAT or show other work experience.
VA Educational Benefits
The VA offers several educational benefits to military veterans and their families. For instance, you or a family member may be eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill program if you served on or after September 11, 2001, and meet one of several possible requirements. The Post 9/11 GI Bill may pay up to 100% of tuition at Northwest Missouri State University. Since both in-state and out-of-state residents pay the same tuition for Northwest’s online MBA programs, the Post 9/11 GI Bill can meet all tuition costs whether you or a family member are Missouri residents or not.
Importantly, you must choose which VA educational benefits to use. The VA’s GI Bill Comparison Tool is an excellent resource, allowing you to research the amounts and types of benefits you could receive at an approved institution like Northwest Missouri State University.
